Guest Review: Consolation by Corinne Michaels (Reviewed by Kimberly Miller)

https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/23270403-consolation?ac=1

Every once in a while, there comes a story that rocks you to your soul. One that changes you, even in some small way. For me, this is that book.

Natalie (Lee) is forever changed by the death of her husband Aaron. As a former Navy Seal turned security consultant, his mission was supposed to be a quick in and out. When he leaves on his mission, Natalie is very pregnant with their daughter. But one knock on the door changes everything.

Lee is an incredibly strong heroine. She's not like so many of the heroines we see these days. Quite honestly, she simply kicks ass!! She doesn't have time for the nervous breakdown she deserves. She's a mom. She has a little girl to provide for and a little girl to love!

Liam is Aaron's best friend and Seal team mate. Months after Aaron's death, Liam arrives to help Lee start to put her life together. At first, he's just around. Liam is Lee's unexpected handyman, shoulder to cry on and friend.

Liam comes along at a time when Lee is stuck, not exactly moving on, in a sort of purgatory. Liam helps make whats broken whole. He is most definitely your mans man!! Your loving, protective, sexy as heck MAN! He is DROOL WORTHY!!

Along the way, their relationship changes. Their love grows! They become more!! Aaron may have been what brought these two together, but their love is their own.

Just one quick thing to point out that I think is important. This is a two-part story. So, that means that this book will end in a cliff hanger. HOWEVER, we only have to wait until May to see what happens next. This is NOT one of those stories where we have to wait months and months for. I also wanna say, I think Liam is gonna be worth the wait!! You won't be disappointed by giving this book a chance!!

Liam and Natalie's story is one of a kind. It breaks your heart and then puts it back together again all in one incredibly written book. You literally get lost in this story. Corinne Michaels really outdid herself. By far, Consolation is one of the best written, emotionally charged books I have read in a long time.

Guest Review by Lori (Red's Book Blog): Dethroning Crown by Lila Felix

We are proud to showcase another guest reviewer Lori from the book blog Red's Book Blog at http://redsbookblog.blogspot.com Here is her review of Dethroning Crown By Lila Felix..enjoy! And thank you Lori for sharing your review...

"Don't do this Lyra. We have today. We have tomorrow. It's all I can give you."

Book Blurb

Number ten is plastered on his team jersey and on his ego. In his own mind, Crown Sterling is the shit. He dates the prettiest women, he dominates on the soccer field, he pours money out of his pockets like it’s water. Until a debilitating knee injury puts him out of commission on and off the field. He’s sent to an isolated town in Louisiana to recoup, undergo physical therapy and heal. But it’s when you’re down that you find out who your real friends are, and what they value in you, if anything at all.

All Lyra wants out of life is peace and quiet. She grew up with a regular, everyday family. When she turned sixteen, rummaging through her grandmother’s hope chest in the attic, she discovered a secret that would turn her simple, normal life into a ball of chaos that revolved around her. But while she seems to face her fears head on in her career, she lives a life that’s secure and well hidden.

A new neighbor moved in next door and he’s decided that everyone needs to listen to his rap music, shattering Lyra’s quiet existence. Enraged, she stomps to the next townhouse over and who should open the door but a man whose good looks and charming smile knock her breathless.

How good looking? Just ask him.

How charming? He’ll tell you that too.

The king must be dethroned.

And a small town girl who’s been through hell is just the one to do it.

Red’s Book Blog Review

Ms. Lila Felix is a recently “new to me” author and hold the phone, I’m a huge fan. When I was given the opportunity to read DC, I was honored.

Her characters are like none other than I’ve read (and I’ve read a lot). All characters have flaws, we know this, but her characters are given such unique qualities, issues and details that I fall in love with them – scars, phobias and all. Ms. Felix invests in her characters. She gives them a world they deserve and respects her readers with these details.

Now, this was not a smooth journey. I wanted to kick Crown every once and awhile and then when he started to be who he was meant to be, I was ready to hug him. Lyra’s character was in one word awesome. With as many quirks as she had, she was a positive, uplifting, and inspiring character.

To watch their journey, to have it slowly build was refreshing and rewarding. We saw where they came from; where they were going and their intentions and then we experienced everything go sideways.

Here are a few words I would use to describe these characters throughout the book:

Crown: lonely, arrogant, sweet, complicated, and hot.

Lyra: strong, vulnerable, wounded, stubborn, caring, smart.

This story is a true example about how nature and nurture collide. When someone isn’t taught love, comfort, respect, how can we fault them for not showing it? However, all it takes is that one person to think “doesn’t mean he isn’t capable” to have someone open up and experience the life he didn’t realize he wasn’t living.

Both Crown and Lyra learn about letting go, opening up and taking charge of their lives. The journey was not smooth but, in the end, it was a great journey and worth the bumps, scars and detours.

Guest Review by Amy of Everything by N.B. Baker

My name is Amy. I'm a military wife of ten plus years and a stay at home mom of five kids and four shepherds.  To say the least I keep busy with my family.  My passion is to help authors however I can!  I'm a member of a few street teams and am NB's PA.  I'm an avid reader (it's my savior when I need a little me time!) and enjoy writing reviews.

A little about NB Baker first....
NB Baker wrote this amazing book Everything that I want to share with you. I fell in love with it before I even knew NB!!  She is not only an amazing author but she is also an amazing person.  She has a heart of gold. She and I started talking and we became fast friends. The more we talked the closer we became and the more I realized she was one of the sweetest people I have ever met!!  She is very willing to give people anything to help them.  She is a giver not a taker.  She is the absolute best you could ask for.  She is just like the rest of us with a family and fur babies!!!  I just want you all to know she is not just a author, she is a loving, sweet, and all around a wonderful person!!   She has a great mind to write a story like this. She has started a second book that I am on pins and needles waiting for!! So she is very a busy lady with a family, work and writes in her spare time.

REVIEW BY AMY

Everything By NB BAKER

This book has lots of suspense, hot and sexy scenes, and mystery!!!!  It has fire scorching as I say "that would burn the bed sheets" scenes!!!  This is a story that you just have a hard time putting your book, kindle, whatever reading device you have down!!!  Because once you start you don't want to stop. I stayed up half the night and read it.  I just couldn't walk away from Ella and Chance!!  Chance is an alpha male all the way but he is also kind and gentle.  Ella is someone who is straight to the point and she knows what she wants.

Ella was abandoned by her parents when she was a baby and she was raised by her grandparents.  When her grandparents passed away she decided to move to Detroit to be with her two best friends Sarah and Justin!  Ella has a rough start on life with a guy when she catches him in bed with another woman!! She doesn't take any crap though, she ends the relationship and moves on. Then when the ex decides to get rough with her she is rescued by this God like specimen of a guy named Chance St. John.

Ella and Chance have an instant deep connection, a 'zing' both in and out of the bedroom that grows stronger and stronger everyday.  But Chance has a dark past that he keeps from her.  He says that they are his demons, nobody else's.

Chance is put to the test as strange things start happening to Ella, life threading things.  Chance has a sick feeling he knows who and why. He will do whatever it takes to keep her safe, even if it means walking away from her.  Little does he know, that it's him who needs saved.
